Saffron Gin Smash

Saffron Gin Smash

Ingredients:

  • 50 ml gin (preferably a dry gin)
  • 10–15 saffron threads
  • 20 ml fresh lemon juice
  • 15 ml simple syrup (1:1 ratio of sugar to water)
  • 4–5 fresh mint leaves
  • Ice cubes
  • Soda or tonic water (optional, for a more fizzy version)
  • A slice of lemon and some mint for garnish

Procedure:

  1. Saffron infusion: Start by soaking the saffron threads in a small amount of warm water (about 1 tablespoon) for 5–10 minutes to release their golden color and aroma.

  2. Prepare the glass: Take a lowball glass and add fresh mint leaves and the lemon juice. Use a muddler (or the back of a spoon) to gently crush the mint so that the essential oils are released.

  3. Make the cocktail: In a cocktail shaker, add the gin, simple syrup, saffron-infused liquid, and ice cubes. Shake well to combine all the ingredients and chill them.

  4. Serving: Fill the glass with ice cubes and strain the cocktail into the glass. If you’d like a slightly lighter and more effervescent version, top it off with a splash of soda water or tonic.

  5. Garnish: Garnish the cocktail with a slice of lemon and a sprig of mint. You can also sprinkle a few strands of saffron on top for a luxurious touch.

Enjoy your "Saffron Gin Smash"—a perfect blend of spicy, fresh, and citrusy flavors!

Elevate Everyday Meals with Saffron

Throughout history, saffron has been known for its distinctive color and unique flavor. Its deep-red threads have enriched countless dishes with their intense aroma and color, and today saffron remains a sought-after ingredient in kitchens around the world.

Saffron’s popularity is largely due to its unique ability to add depth and complexity to both sweet and savory dishes. With just a small amount, typically around 30 mg, saffron can elevate the flavor of everything from rice dishes and soups to desserts. Saffron is known for being a luxurious ingredient, and its special properties make it a favorite among chefs and food lovers.

When using saffron in cooking, you not only get a unique taste experience but also an aesthetic enhancement to the food.

So if you want to elevate your culinary creations, saffron is a fantastic choice. Always choose high-quality saffron to ensure the best flavor and color in your dishes.
